Just coming out on DVD is Speed Racer, an adaptation of the 1960's anime series. While this movie is beautiful, with brilliant colors and cutting edge animation, it's attempt to permeate kid pop culture ultimately falls flat. There are good things in the film like the underlying idea of overturning corporate corruption, but all in all the storyline remains rather boring. While kids may find it entertaining, adults should be aware that the movie repeatedly uses language not suitable for the PG rating. 2 stars.
