The emo boys return for their sophomore record Pretty. Odd - but is it a slump? Sort of. Continuing with the fad of new bands releasing material that sounds retro (My Chemical Romance, anybody?), Panic shoots for a modern-day Beatles album. In reality, however, the material falls flat compared to the Beatles, and actually sounds less modern than the band they are trying to emulate. While this isn't exactly a bad record, with hits "Nine in the Afternoon" and "That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)", it winds down to be a snoozer. My recommendation for the band: if it isn't broken, don't fix it. My recommendation to fans: just download these 2 songs, and see what their next release is like. 3 stars.
