WHICH SALON IS RIGHT FOR ME?
by Michelle Greer

Symmetrix Salon & Day Spa

Symmetrix Salon & Day Spa is owned by stylist Shelley Moore. When she began her work as owner of Symmetrix, she had already been doing hair for 15 years. She is now into her 16th year as a stylist. The goal of her business is to have a salon and spa where people feel comfortable. Moore says that everyone who works at Symmetrix is family. She loves what she does, and her favorite part of her job is simply getting to talk to all the people that come into the salon.

Symmetrix is a salon and day spa with choices ranging from hair to waxing to nails. Also, Symmetrix is the only salon locally that offers photo hairstyle imaging.

Holden & Co.

Owner Micah Holden started Holden & Company in 1995. For her business she wants to have close relationships with the clientele. She wants the clients to trust the hairdressers to offer an updated, trendy hairstyle.

Because of that goal, Holden places a large emphasis on education. Continuing education helps keep all the workers up to date on the ever-changing styles.

Holden says that she loves to come to work everyday. She has been doing this work for 18 years, and has never burnt out. For Holden, this work is an art.

Spa West

Spa West is co-owned by Sherry Lowe and Karen Miller. Lowe and Miller worked together in a salon and then decided to open their own place. Spa West has been open for one year.

Lowe was talked into becoming an esthetician and has now done that for 7 years. Miller’s mom was a hair dresser, so it was her mom that got her into the business. She has been a nail technician for 5 years.

At Spa West there are hairdressers, 2 massage therapists, 1 nail technician, 1 esthetician, and 1 barber. They stay busy but are still looking for more clientele. They are always ready to pamper and make all the clients feel at home.

Salon Bliss

Sisters Mary Kinder and Shirley Freeman co-own Salon Bliss. The sisters come from a family of hairdressers.

Salon Bliss is still getting the business started. This is an Aveda concept salon. Their new location allows for more people to come to work for them. When it is all finished, Salon Bliss will have 9 hairdressers and 1 nail tech. They also are adding a massage therapist and facialist. Salon Bliss stresses the continuing education of hairdressers and a comfortable working environment.

The Cosmetic Studio

Doris Yates opened The Cosmetic Studio in January. Yates has been an esthetician since 1986. She says that she has always loved skin and makeup and that she felt Searcy was ready for a store like this one.

The Cosmetic Studio is a Bare Essentials retailer. They also sell Lollia, which is a bath and body line.

At the Cosmetic Studio, you can get a facial, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and non-surgical face lifts. Yates also offers waxing and special occasion makeovers.

Accessories are also sold at the studio. As of September 17, The Cosmetic Studio will be open on Monday.
