Celebrate Recovery Searcy

Hi my name is Dewight.  I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ.  I Celebrate Recovery from alcohol.  I am currently struggling with codependency and control.

If you meet me on the street I simply introduce myself as Dewight Piker, but if you join our fellowship of Celebrate Recovery, the former is what you will get.  You might have seen our signs in front of various churches throughout White county and wondered what Celebrate Recovery is.  Celebrate Recovery( or CR for short) is a non-denominational  fellowship of believers, who get together one night a week to share in their common struggles. We use the 12 steps adopted from Alcoholics Anonymous. We follow the pattern established by John Baker of Saddleback church in California. The same fellowship the brought us “The Purpose Driven Life”.

Though alcoholics Anonymous is simply for the alcoholic, CR is for those struggling with any form of addiction, as well as many others habits, hurts or hang-ups. There are those in our number who struggle with depression, anger, compulsiveness and the list goes on and on. Like AA, CR is completely anonymous. in fact, anonymity and confidentiality are basic requirements. what is discussed in our meetings stays at our meetings. It is imperative that we maintain a safe place for people to share openly, without fear of being outed.

Our meetings are held at different times and in different churches, but the basic structure is the same. First we get together for a meal. After that we have a time of praise and worship. After all, Jesus is the center of our recovery, our one and only higher power. Next we move into to a lesson or a testimony. We alternate each week. Our lessons are based  on one of the 12 steps or 8 principles, which are the foundation of our recovery. Each step and principle have a correlating scripture from the bible. The testimonies are perhaps my favorite part. They are written and shared by the ones who lived them.  Hearing someone share how God, through this vessel of CR, has transformed their life. It’s amazing. We invite you to come experience it for yourself!
