Members of the White County Medical Center Auxiliary recently participated as judges in Searcy’s Annual Parade of Lights. Floats from various businesses, organizations and churches joined together this year to help bring Christmas spirit to the Searcy community.

Of the floats that registered to be judged, WCMC Auxiliary chose three winners of this year’s parade. First place was awarded to Foster Chapel Missionary Baptist Church; second place, Chase Mobile Home; third place, the Humane Society of Searcy. HMI Manufacturing, Inc. and GRIFF Kids received honorable mentions. Floats were judged based on creativity, music and Christmas lights.

“As an auxiliary member, our community is very important to us and serving the community is an act close to our hearts,” said Kathy Gammill, auxiliary member and volunteer judge. “We greatly enjoyed being given this opportunity to volunteer. The Christmas spirit and creativity was clearly seen in all of the floats and choosing a winner was a very difficult decision to make. Everyone did such a wonderful job decorating.”

WCMC is a proud supporter of the Parade of Lights. The WCMC Auxiliary consists of volunteer members who provide non-clinical services to patients, family members and guests along with assisting various departments within the hospital with tasks as needed and acquiring funds to be used as needed through the White County Medical Foundation. Last year alone, volunteers contributed nearly 30,000 hours of service to the hospital.

All businesses, organizations and churches are encouraged to enter the 2015 Parade of Lights. All entries must be decorated with Christmas lights and play Christmas music; registration is required for the float contest.
