Kidstage Registration
Searcy’s Center on the Square and their partner in the arts, Land O’Frost, announce registration for the spring session of Land O’Frost KidStage, a theater workshop for children in second through 12th grade. The session will be taught by Caleb Keese, Center on the Square’s newly appointed Artistic Director. In addition to the generous support of Land O’Frost, our associate sponsor is Beth Patterson Pediatric Dentistry.
Registration is open now for the spring session which begins February 1st and runs through April 16. Workshops meet weekly with the children divided into two groups. Our younger actors, grades 2-5, meet on Tuesdays from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Our older group, grades 6-12, meets on Thursdays from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
The classes will meet at the theater, 111 W. Arch Street in Searcy. The cost of the workshop is $50 per child per class through February 1st. Late registration after February 1st is $60. The “KidStage Onstage” workshop consists of theater-oriented activities developing skills in stage movement, characterization, and voice as well as theater terminology, improvisation and pantomime.
“The workshop is very activity oriented and it’s designed to not only help the kids learn basic theater techniques, but also to help boost social skills and self-confidence,” said Lana Hallmark, executive director of Center on the Square. “They practice creativity and imagination, memorization, working with others, and problem-solving.”
Both groups rehearse their own one-act plays which will be performed as an evening of one acts at the end of the session on April 14, 15, and 16. For more information or to register, interested persons may call the theater at 501-368-0111 or register online at www.centeronthesquare.org.
